Give vape a chance.
The AVCA, a consumer group in New Zealand, is calling for the Government to ensure that vaping is front and centre for their smoke-free action plan.
The request follows after Associate Health Minister Dr. Ayesha Verrall prepares to release a discussion on a draft action plan to meet the Government’s Smokefree target for 2025.
The NZ Cancer Society recently launched a petition to help reduce the number of tobacco stockists, and the AVCA is now calling for the Government to urgently rethink their current approach to vaping regulations.
The Ministry of Health is currently reviewing submissions on its draft vaping regulations. That’s all well and good, but they need to work in tandem with the country’s smokefree goals.
AVCA believe the upcoming discussion documents will meet New Zealand’s Smokefree 2025 goals, but need to focus on access around both tobacco and vaping.
AVCA also hope that everyone who are involved in tobacco harm reduction in New Zealand will be actively called upon and listened to, in an aid to help shape the prospective action plan.
Love, Supergood.
