What are Nicotine Salts?

Nicotine Salts. A term you might have heard thrown around lately, but has definitely exploded in popularity in the past few years! Let's break it down for you.

Before Nicotine Salts, the only nicotine option for vapers was something called "Freebase Nicotine". This is the industry standard and the purest form of nicotine, and is created by taking pure nicotine and chemically altering it into a base (hence the name), usually by adding ammonia.

As this is the closest thing to "pure" nicotine, it has a higher pH level and as such can have a very harsh throat hit at higher nicotine concentrations. But a benefit of it is it can be used in all devices, no matter what type it is.

On the flipside, Nicotine Salts have been created using the natural form of nicotine found in the tobacco leaf itself. It has a lower pH level, and provides a smoother throat hit at higher strengths, while also being much more effective at absorbing into your system. It also doesn't affect the flavour profile of your favourite E-Liquid...*ahem*.

The only drawback of Nicotine Salts is that you will need to use it exclusively with lower wattage devices and higher ohm coils (0.8 Ohm and above), due to the much higher nicotine concentrations (20mg maximum strength).

If it's still a little confusing, here's another way to look at it:

Throat Hit? Freebase.

Nic Rush? Nicotine Salts.

Hopefully this shines a light on the mystery of Nic Salts! Now that you're all clued up, maybe you might like to try the Supergood Nic Salt range?

Stay safe,

Love Supergood.
